Ambassador Dushimimana Attends Lithuania Events

Ambassador Lambert Dushimimana, accredited to the Republic of Lithuania, joined fellow members of the diplomatic corps in Vilnius for Lithuania’s key mid-February state commemorations and engagements with the Presidency.

On 16 February, Lithuania marked State Restoration Day, commemorating the Act of Independence signed on 16 February 1918. The Ambassador attended the solemn flag-raising ceremony of the three Baltic States—Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia—held at Simonas Daukantas Square near the Presidential Palace, a central national moment in the official programme of the day.

The following day, 17 February, in line with Lithuania’s annual tradition after the State Restoration Day celebrations, President Gitanas Nausėda met with foreign ambassadors accredited to Lithuania, including Ambassador Dushimimana. The meeting provided an opportunity to reflect on Lithuania’s national priorities and regional security outlook in dialogue with the resident diplomatic community.

In his remarks, President Nausėda underlined Lithuania’s steady economic growth and its long-term resilience agenda, highlighting the development of high value-added sectors such as engineering and advanced manufacturing, life sciences, fintech, lasers, and a dynamic startup ecosystem, alongside efforts to strengthen the defence-industrial base.

The President also emphasized Lithuania’s security priorities on NATO’s Eastern Flank, including increased defence investment and host-nation readiness for allied forces. He reiterated Lithuania’s commitment to supporting Ukraine and stressed the importance of sustained military assistance, stronger sanctions, and a principled policy of non-recognition of territories occupied in violation of international law. The President further noted the continuing challenge posed by hostile hybrid threats and called for unity and close transatlantic cooperation on security and energy resilience.

The Embassy of the Republic of Rwanda in The Hague—accredited to Lithuania—welcomes continued engagement with Lithuanian institutions and the diplomatic community on shared priorities, including peace and security, international cooperation, and sustainable, innovation-led growth.
